Dec 31, 2006Knights of Columbus Council #6292 together with St. Leo's St Vincent de Paul Society assembled and delivered 74 baskets of food -- including turkeys, $10 gift certificates and Christmas gifts -- to local families in need. Council members provided help with the transfer of food from the St. Vincent de Paul pantry, the assembly of the baskets and most especially with the delivery of the baskets and the gifts to local families. The Council provided 45 Turkeys and $450 in gift certificates for 45 families and St. Vincent de Paul provided the other turkeys and additional gift certificates for families who did not want turkeys.
George Schuld directed the Council's efforts with a lot of advice and help from Al Leightley. Ben and Dorothy Schaefer directed the efforts of the SVDP members. Heartfelt thanks are extended to all the members (especially Al Leightley) for taking time from their busy holiday schedules to help the needy in our community have a Merry Christmas.
I wish all the officers and members of Father Diamond Council a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
