I just wanted to update everyone on the progress of the Thanksgiving Baskets. The good news is that we have already met our initial goal of 30 food baskets on our signup sheet! Thanks to all those who have already volunteered to put together a basket for a needy family!
I would ask that people keep signing up or making donations if possible, because we have spoken with the St. Vincent de Paul folks and they have been almost wiped out by the recent surge in demand for assistance (I believe it was 60 families last time out!).
We would like to increase out commitment to 40 food baskets (and 50 turkeys + 50 gift certificates) for the council. I believe that we can make this goal -- the amount allotted by the council should still be enough for everything else (I am waiting on a confirmation of pricing from Giant on the
turkeys).
If you feel that you can take on a food basket, please sign up on the sheet in the hall. If you would like to just make a contribution instead, that would be greatly appreciated as well.
Please feel free to contact Bill Ward (billyjoe@cox.rr.com) if you have any questions.
